I had originally planned on changing this to a blog page. After looking into it, it has definitely turned out to be something I don't really want to do. The post below is an article I wrote some time ago for my November newsletter. I've thought about taking it down, but re-reading it the message is just as important now as it was then. I always write to be relevant to what I see & feel in life, whether it is directly related to bodywork or not. I do send out a newsletter via email once a month. You can sign up to the right with the green envelope, or fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
Today is Veteran's Day, 11-11-16
What did our veterans fight for if not these things:
Today I am grateful for having a comfortable bed to sleep in with the cats I call pets, but who consider themselves my guardians. That bed has sheets, blankets and is in a room in a house that is warm and safe. I am grateful for those things.
I am grateful for the sky above, Mother Earth below. Tread lightly and take care of her. She is our home, the home for everyone and everything on this rock flying through space.
I am grateful for the car, the garage it is in and the gas that fuels it to go to work, the store, to see family and wherever else. I am grateful for the roads and bridges made of blacktop and concrete that I drive on every day.
Our veterans fought to keep these things. They fought for our freedoms: the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the rest of the amendments. They include many things such as: The Freedom of Religion, Speech and the Press, The Right Against Unreasonable Search and Seizure, The Right to Vote, and The Ending of Slavery.
I dream of a Country and a World where we can all see each other as fellow humans living together on one planet. Where we can see each others differences and enjoy and welcome our diversity. I have a dream of peace, acceptance and celebration. A place where we all cherish life. A place where we have abandoned hate. A place of trust.
A place where we use solar panels and windmills, we have very little pollution, and maybe, like in Back To The Future II, our cars are powered by garbage. A place where earthquakes caused by fracking are a distant memory. A place where everyone has access to clean water, clean air, a safe home and safe food to eat.
For progress to be made on this dream, and I am not the only one who has had this dream, we must work together. We must move forward. We must keep our hearts and our minds open and be willing to stand up for what we believe in, without stomping on others.
Recent events in this country show us strongly where we need to apply love, caring and empathy. This is, after all, the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave".
Don't let what our Veterans have fought for, given their lives for, be in vain. May all people have peace and compassion for themselves and each other.
One last thought and another of the things taught in the MFR seminars, because change can be very scary: "You are Bigger than your Fear". If you would like more information about what MFR is and how it might be able to help you let go of pain (and fear), please click the button to schedule a free consultation - just pick a time that works to come spend a few minutes with me.
